About RISE-Up EA+

The RISE-Up EA+ study is funded by the NIH-NIA (National Institute of Aging) in an effort to better understand how early schooling experiences affect brain health and cognition.

The landmark study is conducted by researchers Dr. Bridget Callaghan and Dr. Jennifer Silvers at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). RISE-Up EA+ is an extension of the ongoing study RISE-Up EA led by Dr. Mitchell Wong.

You were invited to participate in the emerging study due to your current enrollment in RISE-Up EA! Eligibility to join our add-on study will be determined through a scheduled phone screen, during which we will ask questions related to MRI safety.

Eligible participants will be invited to attend a one-time in-person session at UCLA that is estimated to last 3-4 hours. Prior to the visit, participants will receive a series of online questionnaires to complete.

During the in-person visit, eligible participants will undergo an MRI scan, complete cognitive tasks both inside and outside the scanner, and provide biological samples including saliva, buccal (cheek) cells, and potentially blood.

After the in-person visit, participants will be given a stool sample collection kit and a final questionnaire to be mailed back to our team.

Participants have the opportunity to earn up to $195 from the RISE-Up EA+ team for their involvement, and parking will be compensated!

If you are interested in learning more about the study and would like to see if you are eligible, please follow the link below to schedule a 15-20 minute phone screen with our study team!
